Liberals Hate Families

A vessel for a muse or two

I wish I could judge this movie entirely based on Allen’s one liners, but I can’t.  Well listen, there’s nothing wrong here.  It’s a much smarter than average screwball slapstick sort of comedy.  At the same time, it’s hard to love it because of that.  Or at least it’s hard to love for me.  I laughed a good amount, and I thought it was a funny take on all those utopian novels of people falling asleep for 200 years and waking up somewhere, but slapstick of this nature just isn’t something that meshes too well with my soul.  So I take this film for what it is: a likeable comedy from Allen’s early era.
